TrendForce said the future trajectory of US tariffs will be a key factor in shaping H2 memory supply, demand and pricing.
The 90-day grace period has temporarily eased concerns about sales losses due to new tariff barriers, however, continued uncertainty about the direction of US trade policy has made memory buyers more cautious - by increasing DRAM and NAND inventory levels as a buffer against supply risks.
This proactive stockpiling has expanded expectations of higher contract prices for DRAM and NAND flash memory in the second quarter.
However, this increase may be short-lived. Much of the demand from US brands and exporters - who are more sensitive to tariff changes - has been released in advance in the first three quarters, breaking the seasonal trend.
